College Football Hall of Fame Celebrates One-Year Anniversary in Atlanta on Aug. 23
ATLANTA (Aug. 20, 2015) — The College Football Hall of Fame & Chick-fil-A Fan Experience will celebrate its first full year of operation in downtown Atlanta this Sunday, Aug. 23, and the attraction is observing the milestone with a special admission promotion, a Hall of Fame panel and more.
All day Sunday, guests whose age ends in the number “1” (example: 11, 21, 51, etc.) will receive free admission at walk-up ticket windows beginning at 10 a.m.
“Our first full year has proven what we knew all along: Downtown Atlanta is the absolute best place for the Hall of Fame to call home,” said College Football Hall of Fame President and CEO John W. Stephenson, Jr. “Our award-winning attraction continues to exceed every expectation for football fans, tourists, event patrons, business travelers and residents of all ages and school colors, and our team is thrilled to celebrate our anniversary with the Atlanta and college football communities.”
The attraction will also host a panel of Hall of Famers at 11:30 a.m. including Kevin Butler, Tommie Frazier, Phillip Fulmer, Tracy Ham and Mark Simoneau and welcome seven members of the 2014 Hall of Fame Class to unveil their HOF Blade commemorating the inductees beginning at 1 p.m.
“As we celebrate year one, this facility has already proven to be an amazingly valuable asset to the National Football Foundation and the college community in general — just exactly as our board intended when we selected Atlanta as the site,” said National Football Foundation President and CEO Steve Hatchell.
Special anniversary treats will be served throughout the day, and several local Atlanta mascots will make guest appearances, including the Hall’s mascot, Fumbles. There will also be a series of surprise giveaways.
The celebration doesn’t stop on Sunday. On Monday, Aug. 24, the inaugural Hall of Fame Golf Classic will be held at East Lake Golf Club where golfers have the opportunity to play a round with a Hall of Famer.
