Bio
Born in the forests of Minnesota, son of a pioneer lumberman, and Chippewa Indian mother, Eddie Rogers enjoyed a free-spirited boyhood which would be paralleled in his wild football style as an outstanding end at both Carlisle Institute and the University of Minnesota. Rogers' career spanned seven seasons, four as a member of the Redmen teams that lifted Carlisle to national prominence and three campaigns at Minnesota. He served as team captain at Carlisle in 1900 and Minnesota in 1903. The 1903 Golden Gophers had a 11-0-1 record as they won the Big Ten title and Rogers was named a third- team All-America. The next season Rogers returned to Carlisle as head coach and had a 9-2 record. He then returned to Minneapolis and began a 62-year career in law, retiring at the age of 90.
