Bio
During his career at Virginia, Anthony Poindexter wreaked havoc in the secondary. He becomes just the fifth Cavalier player to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He is only the second two-time First-Team All-America selection in school history, earning consensus honors his senior year. In 1998, he was named ACC Defensive Player of the year and was a finalist for the Thorpe and Nagurski Awards. Poindexter led UVA to a share in the 1995 conference title earning Honorable Mention All-ACC accolades. By the end of his career he would become the third Cavalier to be named a three-time First-Team All-ACC selection. The two-time captain also earned a share of the Brian Piccolo Award as the ACC’s most courageous football player. Poindexter was a seventh-round pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, playing for the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns during his time in the league. He played in 10 games for the Ravens in route to their victory in Super Bowl XXXV. Following his playing career, he began a successful coaching career including stops at Virginia (his alma mater), Connecticut and Purdue.
