Bio

Charlie Flowers was a three-year starter at fullback for Mississippi 1957-1959. He made All-Southeastern Conference twice and Academic All-Conference twice. In 1959, he made unanimous All-America and Academic All-America. His rushing totals were 438 yards as a sophomore, 546 as a junior, 733 as a senior. That last figure ranked him sixth in the nation in 1959. He also made ten kickoff returns in his career, averaging 17.9 yards on each. He caught nine passes in his career, and in 1958 he punted ten times with an average of 44.7 yards. Mississippi had a record of 28-4-1 in his three years. That included three bowl victories, two in the Sugar and one in the Gator. Following his college career, Flowers played with the San Diego Chargers in 1960-61 and the New York Titans in 1962. He settled in Atlanta, began a career as a stockbroker, and became vice-president of his company.
