Bio
Gary "Big Hands" Johnson stood 6-feet, 3-inches in height, weighed 260 pounds, and played defensive tackle for Grambling. The Tigers had a 41-6 record in his four years. They won or shared the conference championship all four years. He was named All-America on numerous levels, NAIA, Black College and College Division (FCS) In 1974, he had 134 tackles, 89 unassisted, and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. After the 1974 season, he played in the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl and was named Most Valuable Player in both. He was a three-time All-Southwestern Athletic Conference choice. He played 11 years with San Diego and San Francisco in the National Football League and was in four Pro Bowls.
