Bio

Gerald Dalrymple was the leading receiver for coach Bernie Bierman's Tulane teams which won 28 of 29 regular-season games during the 1929, 1930 and 1931 seasons. The Green Wave dominated southern football in this era as they went undefeated in Southern Conference play. Sophomore Dalrymple began his varsity career as the catching end of the famed Banker-to- Dalrymple combination. When Bill Banker, also a Hall of Fame member, graduated, Dalrymple paced the 1930 Wave to an 8-1 mark, marred only by a 14-0 defeat at the hands of Big Ten power Northwestern. Jerry Dalrymple was named first-team All-America that season, but the glue-fingered Tulane end was saving his best for last. As a senior in 1931, Dalrymple captained one of the greatest teams in Tulane history. The Green Wave swept through an unbeaten regular season and earned an invitation to meet Southern California in the 1932 Rose Bowl. However, Southern Cal's Hall of Fame back, Erny Pinckert spoiled the New Year's Day activities for Bierman's Wave scoring a pair of touchdowns within less than a minute to spark the Trojans to a 21-12 victory.
